What Christmas songs make the most money from artists like Mariah Carey and Wham
New research has revealed how much the most popular Christmas songs earn on streaming platforms and which song is the most profitable.
The study by casino comparison site CasinoBee analyzed data from Spotify to find out which of the UK’s favorite Christmas songs made the most profits and which artist takes home the biggest paycheck every Christmas.
Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You has been revealed as the highest-grossing Christmas song, earning the artist a staggering £2,759,238 from Spotify streams alone. This comes as each song stream earns an artist £0.0028 and Mariah’s signature song is streamed 985,442,333 times.

The second highest grossing Christmas song is Last Christmas by Wham. The song has 746,670,471 streams, earning it almost £2.1million.
Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me is the third highest-grossing Christmas song through Spotify streams. The song, which was released in 2014, has since been streamed over half a billion times, earning Ariana Grande an income of £1.5million.
Michael Bublé has three songs in the UK top 40 – It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Holly Jolly Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. The profit from these three songs combined is £2,833,203.41.
Bing Crosby’s White Christmas is the fourth most popular Christmas song, earning £1,361,218.58 from Spotify streams of 486 million. That’s just a fraction of what the star will have earned since the song’s release.
The fifth highest-grossing Christmas song is The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. The song has been streamed 475 million times and has grossed £1,332,441 since it was uploaded to Spotify.
Further down the list, the charity classic Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas received around £973,646.50 from streams with Pogues and Kirsty McColl’s Fairytale of New York making around £678,175.93
Shakin Stevens’ classic cheesy ‘Merry Xmas Everyone’ won £603,777.44 with Elton John’s Step Into Christmas making £616,171.32
Staffordshire-born Roy Wood’s Wizzard received £212,660.21 from streams for I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday with Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmastime summary making £742,207.49
